What if sentences

  1. What if you were the only person left on earth
  2. What if no one could see you
  3. What if you lost all your memory
  4. What if you couldn’t tell a lie


What if you could never tell a lie? Not even a small white lie to make your life easier, or a huge lie with could determine life or death. People associate lies with being bad or wrong, but would the world be a better place if you couldn’t say them at all? Would the world become a better place where al criminals commit to their crimes? or would it uncover a harsher reality that had been covered up with a lifetime of lies.


Involves an enigma at the beginning -> question that needs explaining/answers

Idea - You can buy emotions


Synopsis

You live in a world where you could buy emotions as you would let's say medicine. You don't have to as people can have them naturally without the need to buy them but if you wanted to for whatever reason you could. These emotions could be bought as pills or as an average medicine in pharmacies. You could buy them off the shelves as its not an uncommon demand and they can’t be dangerous if used within moderation. The film just follows a person through a montage (maybe) as they go about their week, and how their life is plays out with them needing to take these pills for emotions.


5 Lines

You live in a world where you can buy emotions.

Follow someone going about their week buying emotions.

Montage of them going to buy them, then doing every day tasks.

Buys emotions one day and goes to take them but they don't work.

Ends up taking the whole bottle and they still don’t work - breakdown.


10 Words

You can buy emotions but one day they stop working.


Ideas

Animation - After taking emotions, the according face shows up on your face - Blank = Scribble


Emotions go crazy - The emotions keep glitching out


The emotions glitch out with black (scribbles) cutting in and out but every day the scribbles take longer and longer to go away


Scribbles = blank


Meets someone else with a scribbled on face at the end - thought they were the only one


Takes specific emotions for each day, but they malfunction


Over exaggerated movements?


Day 1 - Happy = hanging outwit friends


Day 2 - Sad = funeral? sad event

  Secrets and Lies sequence analysis Roxanne and Cynthia in the living room This scene in the film gives you a really strong idea of what British realism in film is all about. From the actions and dialogue and also mise-en-scene. The elements of film form also connect with Mike Leigh as an auteur. For starters, the conversation between Cynthia and Roxanne is never interrupted by any jump cuts as it is all captured in one long shot. This is very common throughout the movie as the director Mike Leigh is known for using very long shots in order to really put you in the scene without any jump cuts to break your concentration. However, you know this long shot won’t last very long as throughout the movie, Cynthia and Roxanne have quite a dysfunctional relationship and never really have any long conversations before Roxanne runs off or breaks the conversation.
