INT. pharmacy - day

Pharmacist hands prescription to MC.

MC's face is completely covered with scribbles (black, yellow, blue).

Sound and dialogue is all muffled and hard to hear like you're underwater.

MC

Title shows up on screen.

INT. house / kitchen - day

Time skip to when MC is back home walking through her front door. Tracking shot of MC's feet walking towards the kitchen.

Cut to MC laying out 2 pill bottles labeled happy and sad.

MC opens the bottle labelled happy and takes a pill.

The scribbles on MC's face start to form into the classic yellow smiley face and the sound starts becoming less distorted and easier to hear.

EXT. park - day

Tracking shot of MC as they walk through the park. The smiley face starts switching back and forth between scribbles.

Montage of MC walking through the park with the smiley face constantly switching back and forth between the scribbles and face, sometimes being a sad face.

The sounds of nature cut in and out along with the scribbles interrupting the happy face.

MC goes and hides somewhere (behind tree or by creek) and there's an increased sound of heavy breathing and heart beat.

cut to black

int. bedroom - night

Birdseye view of MC in bed with the scribble sound slowly getting louder and louder

cut to black

int. house/kitchen - day

Shot of the two pill bottles labelled 'happy' and 'sad'. MC grabs the sad one.

Jump cut editing style of MC opening and taking pills.

Scribbles slowly form into the classic blue, sad looking face.

int. funeral - Day

Cut to MC sitting in a funeral setting with people crying (the sad face still stable).

Over time, the sad face starts switching out for scribbles, and then after that it starts switching out with the scribbles and the smiley face.

When MC starts to gather others attention, the smiley face starts letting out loud laughs which gathers even more people to stare.

int. toilet - day

Once again, the MC runs off to hide (toilet maybe) and there's an increased sound of heavy breathing and heart beat.

cut to black

int. bedroom - Night

Birdseye view of MC in bed with the scribbles still switching in and out between happy and sad faces, with laughs, and cries.

The camera starts zooming in and the sounds of a beating heart and heavy breathing intensifies until MC suddenly gets out bed.

ext. neghbourhood - Night

Cut to a medium close up, tracking shot of MC running through the neighbourhood

Heavy breathing sound in the background

Ext. Park - night

MC runs into a park then out of frame for a second

Long-shot of another person with scribbles over their face sitting on a bench

MC runs into frame and stops running just after the bench and the two characters look at each-other 

Cut to black

  Secrets and Lies sequence analysis Roxanne and Cynthia in the living room This scene in the film gives you a really strong idea of what British realism in film is all about. From the actions and dialogue and also mise-en-scene. The elements of film form also connect with Mike Leigh as an auteur. For starters, the conversation between Cynthia and Roxanne is never interrupted by any jump cuts as it is all captured in one long shot. This is very common throughout the movie as the director Mike Leigh is known for using very long shots in order to really put you in the scene without any jump cuts to break your concentration. However, you know this long shot won’t last very long as throughout the movie, Cynthia and Roxanne have quite a dysfunctional relationship and never really have any long conversations before Roxanne runs off or breaks the conversation.
